==Life==
In 1850, when he was eight years old, he appears on the U.S. Census living with [[Ephraim Peasley]] (B. Oct 11, 1801, D. Mar 31, 1880) and his wife, [[Phebe Baker]] (B. Dec 9, 1804, D. Nov 10, 1866).<ref name="1850Census">1850 US Census, Berne, Albany Co, NY</ref><ref name="Bernehistory">Bernehistory.org</ref> His connection with the Peasleys is unknown. A decade later Harvey was still living with them but he was recorded as a servant.<ref name="1860Census">1860 US Census, Berne, Albany Co, NY</ref>

In 1890 Harvey was recorded in the US Veterans Census living in Durham, Greene County, NY.<ref name="1890Census">1890 US Veterans Census, Durham, Greene Co, NY</ref> This confirms his Civil War Service and records that he had chronic diarrhea as a result of his service and that he was "unfit for duty until ?".<ref name="1890Census"/>

In 1900 he was recorded as an inmate at the New York State Soldiers Home in Bath, Steuben County, NY, where he was healthy enough to be working as the assistant librarian.<ref name="1900 Census">1900 US Census, Bath, Steuben Co, NY</ref> In this census his birth date was incorrectly recorded as Oct 1838.
