==Birth==
Benjamin Baker was born at about 1767.

==Marriage & Children==
Benjamin married Bethia Crosby in 1792 at Southeast, Dutchess County, NY. Bethia was born in 1777, a daughter of David Crosby, Jr. and Bathia Paddock. Her father was a Revolutionary War soldier and is buried at [[Baptist Church Burying Ground]] on West Mountain.

Benjamin and Bathia had the following children:
*Moses Crosby Baker b. April 25, 1795 at Berne
*Charles Baker b. 1796 at Berne
*Mary Baker b. November 27, 1797 at Berne
*Phineas Baker b. December 9, 1804 at Berne
*Henry Baker b. September 7, 1807 at Berne
*Melissa Baker b. September 11, 1808 at Berne
*[[David Baker]] b. December 28, 1810, died October 1, 1863
*Benjamin Baker, Jr. b. February 21, 1813 at Berne

==Military==
Benjamin was a soldier in the War of 1812. He volunteered from the Town of Berne and served under Capt. Jesse Woods, 12th Regiment, 4th Brigade. On February 14, 1813, he died in the service at Sackets Harbor.

==Death==
Benjamin was buried at Sackets Harbor. Bethia died on November 18, 1852 at Berne.

Transcribed deposition in application for Benjamin's Land Bounty pension relative to his service in the War of 1812 
State of New York County of Albany and Town of Bern 
On this ninth day of November in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty, personally appeared before me a Justice of the peace authorized to administer oaths within and for the Town of Bern County of Albany and State of New York. Bethiah Baker aged Seventy Three years a resident of the Town of Bern, in the County of Albany and State of New York who being first duly sworn according to law declares that she is the widow of Benjamin Baker deceased who was a private in Capt. Jesse Woods Company in the 12th Regiment 4th Brigade of the detached Militia of the State of New York Said Regiment was commanded by Col. John Dolson, S. Steward was the acting Brigade Major in the war with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day June 1812. That her said husband volunteered in the Town of Bern on or about the 23rd day of August 1812 for the term of Six months and continued in actual service until the 14th day of February in the year of our Lord 1813 when he died in the service at Sacketts Harbor as will appear by his original certificate from Capt. Wood hereunto annexed. 
She further swears that she was married to the said Benjamin Baker in the Town of Southeast in the County Dutchess, now Putnam in the State of New York in the year of our Lord 1792, by priest Seins a presbyterian, preacher. Our Intention of Marriage was published there several sabbaths before we were married and this deponent further declares that there is not in existence any public or private record of our said marriage, there maybe persons in being who may have a personal knowledge of the fact of our marriage, my extreme old age and infirm health will prevent my going to Putnam County to seek for further evidence, this deponent further saith that she is still the widow of Benjamin Baker who was a soldier as above stated. Before my marriage my name was Bethiah Crosby
