Lovina Louisa Furman was born November 19, 1814, in [[Berne]], the eldest daughter of [[James Furman Sr.]] (1792-1842) and [[Esther Whitcomb]] (1791-1873).

On September 12, 1830, she married [[Paul Gifford]] a son of, [[Johnson Gifford]] and Mary (no surname).

Paul and Lovina had the following children:
