Ernest served in Co. L of the 326th Infantry in World War I.<ref name="Grave" />He died in the service of his country.

==Marriage & Children==
He was engaged to [[Daisy Mae Freleigh]] (1902-1977) and they had a child who died as an infant.

==Death==
He was killed in action October 18, 1918, in World War I. He was interred at St. Juvin, France.<ref name="Grave" /> A gravestone was erected in [[Hannacroix Rural Cemetery]] in [[Dormansville]].

= I n the casualty list this week is noted the death on Oct. 5th of Ernest Applebee. son of Abraham Applebee of
Coxsackie. Private Applebee was twenty-four years of age, and was killed in action.
