Birth
Spencer Lelie may not be the correct name. The only reference found is in the Knox Town Register. This register was copied by Tenny and Howell, so their listing is not an independent confirmation of his existence. Nobody with a first name of Spencer in the 10th NY Infantry is even close to Lelie for a last name. Closest match is Spencer Zelie from Middleburg in the 177th NY Inf., but I can't connect him to Knox. However, 10th might be the 10th National Guard which turned into the 177th infantry.
