Birth
Selah Lounsbury was born about 1811, in New York State[1], likely in Rensselaerville where his parents were living at the time. His father was Nathan Lounsbury and his wife Sarah.
Life
From research of Porter Wright, reported at the 1984 Lounsbury reunion in Rensselaerville:
The Lounsbury family had a tradition of caring for their own. Daniel D. on Lot 112, Williams on Lot 111, and Elisha on Lot 130 each had farms contained three fourths of a square mile [combined]. Where their farms joined, they walled in a small plot and built a small house on it for brother Selah. Selah was a good, hard-working man, but somehow he was never able to accumulate much of this world's goods, and so his brothers cared for him and his family.
Marriage & Children
Selah married Margaret Salisbury and they had three known children:
- Orville Lounsbury (1854-1870)
- Lewis M. Lounsbury (B. Abt 1856)
- Phillip Wesley Lounsbury (1858-1927)
Death
Selah died sometime after 1870.
