Birth
Richard Clark was born on May 19, 1799.[1] His parents are unknown as is the exact place of his birth. Some researchers have indicated that he was born in New Jersey and that his father was Abraham Clark, the signer of the Declaration of Independence from Elizabethtown, NJ. This however must be incorrect as Abraham Clark and his wife were too old to be his parents and their lineage has been thoroughly studied. However it is quite possible that he was part of Abraham Clark's extended family.
Marriage & Children
On October 1, 1820, Richard married Nancy Hartwell Rand[1] (B. Dec 4, 1801[1], D. abt 1878), who was the daughter of John Rand (B. Dec 3, 1772 Westminister, Worcester Co, Mass) and Dorcas Hartwell (B. Aug 4, 1775). They had the following children: • Nancy M. Clark (B. May 10, 1822)[1] • Richard Alson Clark (B. April 27, 1824)[1] • Albert O. Clark (B. June 22, 1827)[1] • Almon B. Clark (B. June 22, 1827) • Dorcas S. Clark (B. Sept 11, 1829)
