Samuel Pickett
WEST BERNE — Samuel Pickett, 74, of Richard Hill Road, died Saturday in the Community Hospital of Cobleskill after a brief illness. Pickett was born in Schoharie. He was a 1934 graduate of Schoharie High School and a West Berne resident since 1917. Pickett had worked as a truck driver for the Schoharie County Highway Department until 1942 when he entered, the Army. A World War II veteran, he achieved the rank of staff sergeant. He served in Naples,. Sicily, Rome, southern France and Africa.
After his military service, Pickett became a self-employed dairy farmer until his retirement in 1981.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 1261 of Schoharie and the Schoharie County.Dairymen's League. Survivors include his wife, Helen B. Pickett and a sister, Catherine D. Adams of. Schoharie.
Services were held Tuesday in the Langan Funeral Home and, burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Pickett - Becker
The wedding of Miss Helen M. Becker, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred H. Becker of West Berne, and Samuel Pickett, son of Mr. and and Mrs. David Pickett of Schoharie, took place at the home of the bride April 5th (1947) with Rev. E. Arthur Hannay officiating.
The bride wore a gray suit with pink accessories and a corsage of gardenias. The brides attendant was Mrs. Donald Senecal of Schoharie. She wore an aqua suit with white accessories and a corsage of white carnations.
Donald W. Senecal. was best man.
The house was decorated with white hydrangeas and candles.
Following a reception at the home the couple left on a wedding trip.
Guests at the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Randall Becker, Susan, Allen and Laurence Becker of West Berne; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Becker of Delmar; Mr. and Mrs. David Pickett. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Adams and Carolyn Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Donald W. Senecal of Schoharie, Rev. and Mrs. E. Arthur Hannay of Gallupville and Mrs. Howard Shultes of West Berne.

MRS. FRANK VANDERGRIFT
Mrs. Frank Vandergrift, aged 61, died Wednesday (November 23, 1927) morning at her home here.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at 11 o'clock at the home, and were conducted by the Rev. J. H. MacConnell. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery. She is survived by her husband, one son, Chester Lendrum of Howes Cave, by a former marriage, one brother, David Pickett and her mother, Mrs.James Pickett.
