Birth
Seymour J. Palmer was born in Westerlo on April 11, 1840, a son of Ira Palmer and Charlotte Weisgerber. [1] He was a grandson of Seymour Palmer, a War of 1812 soldier.

Seymour was married three times.
His life
Like his father, Seymour was a farmer. He remained very close to his father and joined the same regiment in the Civil War, at the same time. He was a colorful character, sporting a beard that reached his knees, something that his great grandchildren still remember about him.
