Frank died April 22, 2000 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York.

[Knox]--Frank L. Ostrander, 81, lifelong resident of Knox, died Saturday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness. Mr. Ostrander served with the Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II. He worked as a machinist at the General Electric Company in Schenectady for 44 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Altamont Reformed Church, and past president of the Plankroaders Association. Recently he became a member of the Old Men of the Mountain. Judy Stevens remembers her father's "huge gardens." She said he loved gardening and grew tomato plants. His wife, Greta R. Ostrander, died in 1988. Survivors include two children: Judy Stevens of Altamont, and Jerry Ostrander and his wife, Gail, of Guilderland; two sisters, Ethel Bassler of Rotterdam, and Florence Smith of Guilderland; two grandchildren, Thomas M. Stevens of Altamont, and Tanya L. Stevens of Guilderland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Alva, Steve, and William, and a sister, Lena Ostrander, died before him. Arrangements were handled by the Fredendall Funeral Home, in Altamont. Burial will be in Schenectady Memorial Park in Rotterdam. Contributions may be made to the Altamont Reformed Church Memorial Fund, 129 Lincoln Ave., Altamont, NY 12009.

KNOX -- Frank L. Ostrander, 81, died Saturday, April 22, 2000 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady following a short illness. Born in Knox, Frank was a lifelong resident. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the European Theatre during World War II. He worked for the General Electric Company in Schenectady as a machinist for 44 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Altamont Reformed Church and was a member and past president of the Plankroaders Association. He was predeceased by his wife, Greta R. Ostrander in 1988. Survivors include one daughter, Judy Stevens of Altamont; one son, Jerry Ostrander and his wife, Gail of Guilderland; two sisters, Ethel Bassler of Rotterdam and Florence Smith of Guilderland; two grandchildren, Thomas M. Stevens of Altamont and Tanya L. Stevens of Guilderland; also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Alva, Steve and William Ostrander and one sister, Lena Ostrander. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Schenectady Memorial Park, Rotterdam.
