Melvina Becker married Albert Peter Bassler (1838 – 1924), the brother of John Jost Bassler and son of Peter Bassler and Eve Deitz.[1], on November 12, 1872 in Berne, Albany, New York. Their children were:

  • Nellie May Bassler (1876 – 1944) married George W. Schell on November 22, 1893
  • Rhoba E. Bassler (1877 – 1970)

Melvina Becker Bassler Obituary - Altamont Enterprise — April 27, 1900

We truly regret to announce the death of Mrs. Albert Bassler, of West Berne, which occurred Tuesday. April 17th, aged 66 years. A husband and three children mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother, she was a devoted and earnest Christian and a member of the Lutheran church at Berne.

Altamont Enterprise — April 27, 1900

Mrs. Albert Bassler passed from earth on Tuesday, April 17. Mrs. Bassler had been ill for nearly six weeks with pueumonia, and the end was not unexpected. Mrs. Bassler was a woman of strong character, and was devotedly attached to tho interest of her family and of the Lutheran church, of which she was a member, and which she regularly attended. The funeral service was held on Thursday morning, from her late home, Rev. Mr. Kling officiating. Her husband, a son and two daughters survive her, and these mourn the loss of a faithful loving wife and mother.

(West Berne) A pleasant wedding occured at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bassler, Wednesday evening, November 22, 1893, when their daughter, Nellie M. was married to George W. Schell. Miss Robie Bassler was bridesmaid and George Shultes was best man.

A pleasant wedding occurred at the residence of Mr. Albert Bassler, Wednesday evening, Nov. 22d the occasion being the marriage of their daughter Nellie M. to George W. Schell. Mr. George Shultes was best man and Miss Robie Bassler, bridesmaid. After the ceremony the numerous guests sat down to a sumptuous repast. Later, the were serenaded by the boys in a manner commonly called a "horning." The newly married couple have the best wishes of numerous friends for a long and happy life.
