He worked for over 20 years as a research scientist for the New York State Education Department and served as the director of science services of the New York State Museum. He was a consultant to the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) and the Blue Nile Group in Africa, the Middle East and Central America.

Death
Hugo died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at home following a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
Burial
His family held a graveside service on May 3, 2008 in the Thompson's Lake Cemetery in East Berne at 2:00 p.m.

Obituary EAST BERNE, N.Y. Hugo Jamnback, formerly of East Berne, died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at home following a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 81 years old. A World War II combat veteran, he was educated on the GI bill, eventually obtaining his PhD in medical entomology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is survived by his children and their families, Lisa Jamnback of Pittsburgh, Pa., Tina Jamnback Walch and Mitchell Shuwall of Great Neck, N.Y. and John Jamnback of Seattle, Wash.; along with five grandchildren, Laura, Sarah and Benjamin Galos of Pittsburgh and Emily and Jason Shuwall of Great Neck. His family will hold a graveside service on May 3, 2008 in the Thompson's Lake Cemetery in East Berne at 2:00 p.m. At the family's request, donations in his name, in lieu of flowers be provided to the Autism Spectrum Support Network, 65 Fulton Road, Canonsburg, PA 15317.
