KNOX - Mrs. Irene N. Gage, 88, died Saturday at the Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland.
Mrs. Gage was born in Guilderland. She was a graduate of the former Altamont High School and the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Albany.
Mrs. Gage moved to Knox in 1939 and helped run the family farm with her husband, Ernest W. Gage, who died in 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia A. Gage of Knox; two sons, James E. Gage of Knox and Howard R. Gage of St. Johnsville; and three grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. Burial will be in Knox Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Hospital Alumni Association, Albany.

KNOX — Irene N. Gage, 88, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. Mrs. Gage was born in Guilderland on May 21, 1913, daughter of the late Victor and Norma Wagner Bassler. She was a graduate of the former Altamont High School and the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Albany.
She moved to Knox in 1939 and helped run the family farm with her husband.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia A. Gage of Knox; two sons, James E. Gage of Knox and Howard R. Gage of St. Johnsville, (Fulton Co.); a daughter-in-law, Virginia Gage; a grandson, James Gage Jr., two granddaughters, Kathrine and Samantha Gage; a sister-in-law, Ethel Bassler; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her husband, Ernest W. Gage, died in 1994. A brother, Arthur Bassler, and a sister, Evelyn Gage, are also deceased.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont. Friends may call prior to the service on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Knox Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Hospital Alumni Association, care of Lisa M. Julian, 6 Middle Road, Troy NY, 12180-7730.
