Birth
David, the son of Andrew Hannay and his second wife, Elizabeth Ricord, was born on October 5, 1784, at Westerlo. [1]
Education
David attended a common school for some two or three months. He, however, acquired principally by his own efforts a sufficient knowledge of the common branches to be able to read and write, and to understand common business transactions. [1]
Occupation
After the death of his father in 1808, David came into possession of fifty acres of land which included the house where he was born. [1]
Marriage & Children
On October 10, 1805, he was married to Miss Hannah TerBush. They had 14 children: [1]

On July 16, 1842, he married Miss Catharine Huyck. They had no children. [1]
Death
His first wife , Hannah TerBush, died on November 2, 1841, age 53 years. David died in 1866 and was buried in a field near the brook that was the scene of his boyhood sports.
