Chief Brooks is married to the former Ella Stradinger of Isabel, South Dakota.[1]


Military Service

During a career of over 30 years' active service, Brooks rose to the highest enlisted rank, Chief Master Sergeant, a rank achieved by only one percent of the total force. At the time of his retirement, Chief Brooks was stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas where he was Deputy Accounting and Finance Officer and first Sergeant of the 314th Comptroller Squadron.[1]

His military decorations and awards include the Meritorious Service Medal; Air Force Commendation Medal; Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon; and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was selected as the Air Force's Comptroller Enlisted Person of the Year in 1976. Chief Brooks is married to the former Ella Stradinger of Isabel, South Dakota. She is a nursing instructor at the University of Central Arkansas. Brooks attended Berne-Knox Central School. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. Brooks, reside in Ocala, Florida. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Howard Skinner of Swisskill Road, Berne and is the nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Skinner of Schoharie and Mr. and Mrs. Allyn Skinner of Schenectady.
