Occupation

After the death of Dr. Howard Settle in 1920, Frances Settle moved to Berne with her infant daughter, JessieLou to care for her husband's parents. While here she was the beloved piano teacher and an active worker in the Reformed Church. Mrs. Theodore Settle passed away in 1926 and Mr. Settle in 1929. Later Frances Settle and daughter moved to Boston where she served as director of music in the Boston schools. Many friends here enjoyed her return visits to Berne.

Frances Barber Settle of Craigie Circle, Cambridge, Mass. died at the age of 88, following 69 years of activity in the field of music. She had been in increasingly failing health this past winter and died in her sleep May 6, 1982

FRANCES BARBER SETTLE

Frances Barber Settle of Craigie Circle, Cambridge, Mass. died at the age of 88, following 69 years of activity in the field of music. She was the wife of the late Dr. Howard Settle and after his death in 1920, Mrs. Settle moved to Berne with her infant daughter, JessieLou to care for her husband's parents. While here she was the beloved piano teacher and an active worker in the Reformed Church. Mrs. Theodore Settle passed away in 1926 and Mr. Settle in 1929. Later Frances Settle and daughter moved to Boston where she served as director of music in the Boston schools. Many friends here enjoyed her return visits to Berne. She had been in increasingly failing health this past.winter and died in her sleep May 6, 1982.

Mrs. Settle leaves her daughter Jessie Lou Dunn, 94 Sargent Rd., Westminster, Mass. 01423; two sisters Louise Matthews and Ruth Young of Cambridge; a brother Philip Barber of Montpelier, Vt. four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

According to the Boston Globe "Donations to the Development Office, New England Conservatory of Music, 290 Huntington Ave., Boston, Mass. 02115 for endowment fund for scholarships in her memory would be greatly appreciated."
