Birth

Azor Tabor (Azer Taber) was born at Knox, Albany county, May 1, 1798.

Education

After receiving a classical education he entered the office of John Lansing, then chancellor of the State, studied law and when admitted to the bar began practice in Albany.

Occupation

He ranked among the ablest attorneys of the city and gained a large and profitable business. Loving his profession and its pursuit, he never sought public office, the only position he ever held being that of State senator, to which he was elected in I Sol. Although his senatorial career was eminently worthy, he had little taste for public life and returned permanently to practice. In 1833 he formed a partnership with Amos Dean, which continued successfully some years.

Marriage & Children

Azor Tabor (Azor Taber) married Sarah Todd, the daughter of Paul Todd. Their children were:

  • Paul Taber
  • Susan Edwards Taber

Death

In 1854, owing to ill health, Mr. Tabor retired from practice, removed to Knox and there died June 10, 1855.
